Owners of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT will soon be able to display their PFP on their wrist, secured to a unique TIMEX watch.

TIMEX's partnership with the Bored Ape Yacht Club community will introduce 500 timepieces that will feature the owner's ape or Mutant prominently on the watch front. Anyone who buys this watch can customize it with a selection of cases, bracelets, and selected engravings.

Sales of Timepiece Forge Pass NFTs start today and at this time can be minted for 2 ETH or approximately $2,500. Around mid-December, Forge Pass holders will be able to design their own watches on the TIMEX website.

Each physical watch comes with the same digital version as the NFT, separate from the Forge Pass NFT. They won't arrive in time for the holidays, though, and are expected to ship to buyers in the second quarter of 2023.

"Timex is entering Web3 by putting creativity and community at the forefront," said Shari Fabiani, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Creative Services, at Timex Group. "We are redefining and pushing the boundaries of physical, virtual, and now physical offerings."

Just last month, Timex released a branded challenge in the game Fortnite, declaring itself the "Timekeeper of the Metaverse."

Creative direction for the BAYC watch collaboration was provided by longtime members of the Ape community, including Josh Ong and CryptoVonDoom. “It has been a pleasure working with OG in watchmaking as part of the OG Bored Ape community,” VonDoom said in the announcement.

Pre-sales took place at an invite-only party for the Ape community on Friday in conjunction with Art Basel Miami. The campaign represents the continued rise of brand NFTs as a force in the art and fashion worlds. Several custom Apes-themed TIMEX timepieces are on display at the art fair, and the watchmaker is hosting an event.

At Art Basel, All Seeing Seneca — the pseudonymous chief artist behind Bored Ape Yacht Club — also got in on the action. Three of Seneca's animation artworks were minted as NFTs, which, in addition to her first physical artwork, are being sold through auction house Phillips.
